The Studio has first-class technical equipment, including large 2 x 3 metre gas annealing furnaces, electric furnaces, one of which measures 2.4 x 1.20 metres, a glass-making unit with a 120 kg crucible for clear glass, reheating furnaces and a tunnel lehr; a cabinet for sandblasting with corundum (using a very extensive range of size-grading), and equipment for sawing and polishing glass, thus enabling it to meet all kinds of artistic requirements for both flat and hollow glass. For the windows for the church in Talant, the Studio unhesitatingly employed handcrafting techniques, using traditional methods to blow coloured crown glass that expressed the intentions of the artist, Gérard Garouste. The assembling of glass of different colours using the technique known as fusing, although the colour ranges are still rather restricted, is opening a new path in terms of the search for different ways of expressing artistic vision in glass. Pierre-Alain Parot is exploring various techniques and possibilities for the creation of three-dimensional works in coloured glass. Numerous installations have been on display in major exhibitions at venues such as the Darmstadt Landesmuseum, the EC Conference Centre in Brussels, the International Stained Glass Centre in Chartres, the Salon des Arts Décoratifs in Beirut and exhibitions in Tournus, Nîmes, etc.. He is currently creating liturgical furniture in sanded enamelled thermoformed glass. |
